NTT DoCoMo becomes the first carrier to cross $10B in data revenues for the year

Data revenues have been an integral part of DoCoMo’s business since the i-mode days, so it was no surprise that it became the first carrier to get their data revenues into double digit billions. Their 2006 tally stood at almost $10.5B. Catching up slowly is China Mobile though it will take a good 2007 to come closer to the DCM mark. US operators are doing quite well as well and they maintained their respective rankings 4-6 – Verizon, Cingular, and Sprint Nextel. Verizon leading the way with almost $4.5B for the year.
