There is a good article on “Mobile Wallet” in NY Times today. I have been talking about this in my recent talks. Frankly, US companies should just license DoCoMo’s Felica, invest in infrastructure and get on with the program.

The message is clear. The east have tested the mobile wallet market and have found it to be booming. In Japan, the payment of railway tickets, grocery stores and even bus tickets are done with this technology. Now the phone works as a purse. The implementation is a smart card based java applet. It adheres to the Global Platform standards of VISA and Master Card. Its a really interesting application.
But we need to implement the same in the West. Its worth the investment and thought.Nice thought Chetan.
